NEW BOOK – The Art of Awakening

by Katchie Ananda

Liberate your body ∞ Stretch your mind ∞ Nourish your soul

Welcome to yoga and dharma

In the following pages you will be introduced to practices that help quiet the mind, open the heart, and liberate the body. This manual is mostly useful in conjunction with an intensive training or immersion. It is a companion and reminder of the direct transmission that happens when we commit ourselves fully to a period of serious sadhana (spiritual practice) with a teacher and within a supportive, like-minded community, or sangha.

The goal in life, and of all spiritual practices, is to realize our full potential. There is nothing more satisfying than finding our true authentic voice and giving our unique gifts to our loved ones and the world.

While this sounds simple, it is not all that easy to do…

  • “For many years I have known Katchie Ananda as a fine yoga and dharma teacher and a fine individual, and have enjoyed her company in a variety of circumstances on more than one continent. Now she has finally collected some of what she has learned in a book that I believe deserves to be widely known. A former dancer and performance artist, dedicated student of several eminent yoga teachers, and serious spiritual practitioner, Katchie brings to her writing the same humor and down-to-earth know-how that characterize her life in general and her teaching in particular. This book distills much of what she has found to be real both in her life and in the lives of those she has worked with, infused with her warmth, vivaciousness and wisdom. Readers will find (as I did) interesting and valuable facts and insights on each page. May this fine effort to share truth benefit all sentient beings!”

  • “There are many reasons why Katchie Ananda is one of the most popular and inspiring yoga teachers in the world today.  Her teaching combines profound knowledge, masterful technical skill, and deep human wisdom — and all that is conveyed through her beautiful open heart.  If you want a teacher who will force you and fixate on external results only, Katchie is not for you.  But if you want to learn from a teacher who is compassionate, clear and soulful, you can do no better.

  • “In this book Katchie Ananda offers us much more than a yoga and meditation instruction manual, although it is one of the very best of those. What is also being offered here is a way of life, presented with a mix of philosophy, stories, and poetry, told in a narrative that is overflowing with wisdom, good humor and compassion. Brilliant! Nurturing! Life-affirming! This is a gem on everyone’s path.

Wes “Scoop” Nisker Senior teacher at Sprit Rock Meditation Center
  • “In the early 2000s, when yoga was still a whisper in the Western world, I began my studies next to Katchie, and her presence changed my life. Her commitment to philosophy and dharma shaped my perspective on my practice then, and my teaching now. Her unbounded devotion to the honesty that's required to become the blessing we seek still resounds in my own work. Her book is a comprehensive guide to every transformative facet of the practice. Her years of diligent studentship live in these pages, both intimately and utterly universally, to remind us of what we're here to remember through our studies.”
